Foothills Calvary Data Breach (Calvary Belmar)
This is to inform you that a data breach of information at Foothills Calvary occurred on November 13, 2023. An unauthorized individual gained viewer access to church members contact information in Planning Center, which may have included names, addresses, email addresses, phone numbers, gender, birth dates, and anniversary dates. Not all of these fields are populated in the database, but whatever is there could have been viewed by the intruder.
Information from that database was used by the intruder to execute a phishing scam, masquerading as Pastor Scott and asking people to donate gift cards to help some unidentified cancer victims. Consequently, do not respond to any requests from Pastor Scott, or anyone from the church who are asking for money, whether such requests come via email, text messages, or phone calls.
This breach did not involve access to any financial information, or your social security number (which we don’t have), and the unauthorized intruder was locked out against further access. Even though that individual has been locked out of having further access into Planning Center, they continue to send out phishing requests with the information they stole, so continued caution against such communications is strongly advised.
Please contact Pastor Scott, or Norrie Bush directly if you have further questions or concerns.
