TRAUMA INFORMED TRAINING
Kids who have experienced trauma are an important part of our church communities. As we serve them and their families well, it is essential to understand their specific needs.
Project 1.27 provides a 2.5 hour interactive training session taught by a trained professional to help church ministry workers:
Begin to understand the differences in working with children and youth who have experienced trauma.
Receive practical tools for responding to challenging behavior.
Develop a greater level of empathy and passion to minister to kids and families who have experienced painful life circumstances.
As part of Calvary Belmar’s vision to reach our community, it is our goal for our church to become Trauma Aware and Trained. Project 1.27, in Aurora, will be leading a training to support our church’s goal to be understanding of those (especially children) who have come/ or come from difficult places. As we receive this training, and learn how to understand and adjust to others needs, Calvary Belmar has been certified as a Foster/ Adoptive Friendly Church. This recognition will be publicized, by us and by Project 1.27 both in the greater Denver metro area, and nationwide. This is a huge and important step no only for those a part of our current congregation, but for those we will reach because of this outreach.
